The Need
Poor presentations, whether due to nervousness
or lack of "polish," can hurt a speaker's credibility
and persuasiveness. Presenting a message clearly and thoroughly
is important, but delivery and style determine how well the message
is received.
Objectives
• To master spontaneous
speaking: Presenting without "crutches" such as
excessive notes, memorizing, or rehearsing
• To channel initial fear and butterflies into energy, enthusiasm,
and more dynamic speaking
• To organize and deliver messages to meet the listeners' needs
• To emphasize vocal dynamics, nonverbal communication, and
natural movements
• To increase message impact through the construction and use
of
audience-centered visual aids
